Our Inpatient Programs
Our inpatient programs are designed for adolescents and adults who are in crisis and need immediate, intensive support to regain stability. The typical length of stay is between seven and 10 days, but this can vary based on individual progress. After completing the inpatient program, patients often step down to a lower level of care, such as our partial hospitalization program or intensive outpatient program, to continue their healing journey.
Key features of our inpatient program include:
- Basic medical care: Patients receive comprehensive medical evaluations, including a History and Physical (H&P) at the time of admission and follow-up care as needed throughout their stay.
- Medication management services: Our medical staff provides on-site medication management services six days a week.
- Medication-assisted treatment (MAT): For adults who are struggling with substance use disorders, MAT, which includes group therapy, can help them manage their symptoms. Our medical team carefully considers each patient’s individual circumstances to decide whether MAT is an appropriate option.
- Group therapy: Our therapists, nurses, counselors, and mental health technicians lead various group sessions each day, helping patients set and achieve their goals, develop coping skills, and explore their emotions.
- Additionally, we offer cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, trauma-focused care, and 12-Step facilitation.
Our Partial Hospitalization Program
The partial hospitalization program at Shorewood Behavioral Health is available for adults who are transitioning from an inpatient program or for those who are beginning their journey with us.
Group therapy is a core component of this program, with multiple sessions held each day. In groups, our licensed therapists, nurses, counselors, and mental health technicians guide patients through therapeutic activities, educational sessions, and interactive discussions. They may also use evidence-based practices, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and motivational interviewing.
We incorporate the principles of the 12-Step recovery model for patients who are battling addictions. Additionally, we provide specialized support for those who are navigating the aftermath of trauma.
Our psychiatrists and nurses assess each patient’s medical needs and overall health condition to determine whether prescription medications can alleviate their symptoms.
Patients can expect to take part in the PHP five days a week for six hours each day. While the typical length of stay is two to four weeks, each patient completes the program at their own pace.
Our Intensive Outpatient Program
Designed with flexibility in mind, our intensive outpatient program takes place three days a week for three hours each day. This schedule allows patients to engage in therapy sessions while fulfilling their personal and professional commitments.
In our IOP, we offer:
- Medication management services
- Medication-assisted treatment
- Group therapy
- Cognitive behavioral therapy
- Dialectical behavior therapy
- Motivational interviewing
- Trauma-focused care
- 12 Steps of recovery
Patients may step down from a higher level of care, or they can enter our IOP directly. The typical length of stay in this program is two to four weeks, though this can vary from person to person.
